Cornet

I started learning to play the Cornet at the age of 8, at the Salvation Army in Rutherglen. I then took lessons at school where I further developed my playing taking on principal trumpet seats in both Senior concert band and South Lanarkshire Orchestral Society Schools Senior Concert Band. After leaving school I spent two years at Stevenson College studying Trumpet (Classical Music Performance) After Playing with my local Salvation Army band I got my first taste of contesting bands when I was 17 as I joined Coalburn Silver Band, starting on 3rd cornet and progressing up to soprano. I then played Repiano for Kirkintilloch Kelvin before signing with the “Co” in 2017. I’ve enjoyed many different concerts and contests with the band since joining but my highlights are playing at the British Open and National Finals down in London. Alongside playing with the “Co” I play Soprano Cornet with Bellshill Salvation Army Band and also West Scotland Divisional Youth Band. When I’m not at band I’m a teacher in a nursery in the West End, I also love my football and golf and spending time with my family & friends.Christopher
