I started playing euphonium at the age of nine and I first joined the band in 2015 as first baritone, moving to solo euphonium in 2016. I played in the successful Carnoustie and District Youth Brass Band under the tutelage of Mike Robertson. I also held the principal euphonium seat in the NYBBS for three years. As a soloist I have performed in numerous competitions and concerts, including the Besson Scottish Solo and Ensemble Contest and the Glamis Castle Musicale. After beginning my degree in French and English at the University of St Andrews, I was awarded the brass scholarship which has allowed me to perform on several occasions in university events. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time and experiences with the band and look forward to many future endeavours. As a player, while technical playing is indispensable, I believe that musicality and interpretation are at the very core of performance.
