the cooperation band

Thank you for visiting the website of the cooperation band, Scotland’s most successful brass band . Formed in 1918 as the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society Band by the workers in the Shieldhall factories in Glasgow (please visit the ‘about us’ page to see the full band history and our awards). A major change in January of 2019 saw a name change for the band to ”the cooperation band” after support was received from the Scotmid Co-operative.

This website gives you the opportunity to learn about the band, stay up to date with what the band is doing, as well as helping the band by becoming ”A Friend of the Band” or ”A Patron of the Band” Click on the ‘Support us’ link to see the various ways you can help the band as well as details of the benefits you will receive.

If you would like to book the band for any event where you need quality live music, please get in touch via our contact page, where a member of the management team will be back in touch with you.

In both concert and competition, the cooperation band has been making music for over a century. During that time, it has become the most successful band in Scottish brass band history. The band has won the Scottish Championships 37 times and, during the 1990s, twice brought the National Champion Band of Great Britain title back to Scotland – the only Scottish band ever to win this prestigious competition.
