Welcome to the Band, Grant Henderson!
The cooperation band is thrilled to welcome Grant Henderson to our ranks!Born and raised on The Wirral with strong Scottish roots, Grant started his musical journey on baritone at just seven years old before switching to euphonium at eleven. His early years saw him progress through the Wirral Schools Music Service, playing with the Wirral Schools Brass and Concert Bands and Port Sunlight Lyceum Brass Band—including a memorable performance in a theatrical run of Brassed Off in 2015.In 2016, Grant moved to Glasgow for university, where he played with Strathclyde University Concert Band, serving as Band President (2020–2022). He also performs with Dunbartonshire Concert Band and Dunbartonshire Wind Ensemble, but is now thrilled to be returning to the brass band scene with cooperation band.Outside of music, Grant is just as accomplished—he holds a BSc (First Class Honours) and PhD in Physics from the University of Strathclyde, followed by a post-doctoral research fellowship as Strathclyde’s Doctoral Prize Winner (2024). Now, in early 2025, he embarks on an exciting new chapter, taking up a research role in epidemiological systems at Biomathematics and Statistics Scotland, while also embracing a fresh musical journey with Co.Welcome, Grant
